Mr. Allen Swift of Springfield, MA. received a 1928 Rolls-Royce Picadilly P1 Roadster from his father, brand new - as a graduation gift in 1928. He drove it up until his death last year.....at the age of 102 !!! He was the oldest living owner of a car from new. Just thought you'd like to see it. He donated it to a Springfield museum after his death. It has 170,000 miles on it, still runs like a Swiss watch, dead silent at any speed and is in perfect cosmetic condition. (82 years) ...That's approximately 2000 miles per year!
And what a beautiful car it is!
ReplyDeleteThat is one gorgeous Royce, one of the most beautiful classic cars I have ever seen. The love of the owner to his car is unbelievable, he managed to keep it in tip-top condition for almost a century! I would guess that car is now worth millions. But seeing the love it has received, it can be considered as priceless.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely outstanding. It's a record breaking if that car would withstand that long.
ReplyDeleteThe car still looks so furnished as ever before. I am proud to see it was properly maintained and loved by sir Allen.
ReplyDeleteThe beauty and the classic value. Those two traits make up an investment and a lifetime achievement.
ReplyDeleteI would love to own that car. I wonder how much this will cost in an auction?
ReplyDeleteThe Rolls Royce is like a mechanical horse. Look at the size of that!
ReplyDeleteAs far as I remember Rolls Royce is the most expensive car brands. I don't know if that hold is still true. But all I can says is that it is awesome classic.
